Intelligent Remote Interface System ...

I R I S
I R I S

The EAL IRIS is used within several product solutions (access control, security management, voice recording and C-2000 / analogue dispatching systems). The functionality of the IRIS will be determined by the installed interface boards and firmware version.

Within the EAL access control and security management solutions the IRIS is used as TCP/IP multiplexer for:

  • communication with 8 x 16 doors (128 controllers in total)
  • communication via RS232 for the connection of EAL I/O systems
  • communication via RS232 for the connection of manageable sub-systems
  • communication via RS485 for the connection of EAL I/O systems
  • communication via RS485 for the connection of manageable sub-systems
  • communication via Currentloop (for communication over long distances)
  • communication via Canbus for the connection of manageable sub.

The main IRIS features within access control and security management projects are:

  • 19 inch casing for mounting in 19 inch cabinet
  • Flashrom for storage of firmware (up loadable via network)
  • Flash memory for storage and distribution of data
  • BGA chip type Xilinx FG256 for the intelligent programming of hardware
  • TCP/IP Ethernet chip. Identification based on IP-address (fixed of via DNS), Subnet, Gateway or MAC address
  • Network communication possible via unicast or multicast
  • Peer to Peer communication with connected hardware when the network is not available

EAL Vossessor ...

The EAL door controller Vossessor can be mounted local on the secure side of any access point, centrally in the main equipment room (MER), or in the secondary equipment room (SER). The Vossessor can control a single door and communicates with the attached readers (max. 2) via RS485, the door locks (max.2) and has four inputs for the connection of additional equipment (emergency door openers, etc.).

Vossessor
Vossessor

Because the Vossessor is equipped with local memory, all the access and badge data is stored locally during network failures. When the communication with the network is restored the local data will automatically be transported to the central EAL ATS database.

The main Vossessor features are:

  • By controlling just one door, there is a low system risk on controller level
  • Decentralized functionality
  • Memory for local data storage (max 10.000 events)
  • Flashrom for firmware storage (up loadable via network)
  • FPGA FG256 chip for intelligent hardware programming
  • Anti pass back and semi anti pass back functionality (depending on system layout)

External connections:

  • 2 reader interfaces (RS485, clock-data or wiegand) for the connection of a single door
  • 3 relays (for door locks and other outputs)
  • 4 inputs for emergency door openers, manual open, etc.
  • 210-240 Volt 50Hz
  • Connections bases on current loop, RS232, RS485 or TCP/IP Ethernet (via optional Ethernet controller.

EAL Twin-Vossessor:

The EAL door controller Twin-Vossessor can be mounted local on the secure side of any access point, centrally in the main equipment room, or in the secondary equipment room. The Twin-Vossessor can control a maximum of two doors and communicates with the attached readers (max. 2) via RS485, the door locks (max.2) and has four inputs for the connection of additional equipment (emergency door openers, etc.).

Because the Twin-Vossessor is equipped with local memory all the access and badge data is stored locally during network failures. When the communication with the network is restored, the local data will automatically be transported to the central EAL ATS database.

The main Twin-Vossessor features are:

  • Decentralized functionality
  • Memory for data storage (max 10.000 events)
  • Flashrom for storage of firmware (up loadable via network)
  • FPGA FG256 chip for intelligent hardware programming
  • Anti pass back and semi anti pass back functionality (depending on system layout)

External connections:

  • 2 reader interfaces (RS485, clock-data or wiegand) for the connection of two doors
  • 3 relays (for door locks and other outputs)
  • 4 inputs for emergency door openers, manual open, etc.
  • 210-240 Volt 50Hz
  • Connections bases on current loop, RS232, RS485 or TCP/IP Ethernet (via optional Ethernet controller

EAL specific compatible hardware:

Next to the Vossessor and Twin-Vossessor range EAL has got several system pin compatible controllers, which can be used for the replacement of existing access control systems (with re-usage of wiring, locks, contacts, etc). For the reason that the compatibility of the EAL hardware and the re-usage of wiring, changing a complete system is often possible for reasonable pricing
(usually large 200+ door projects are possible under European tender pricing).

During the years, developments have been done to make our hardware (pin) compatible with:

  • NEDAP / Nsecure
  • Casi Rusco
  • Keyprocessor
  • Ascom

Card Reader Technology ...

EAL has developed several card reader technologies. For instance we manufacture readers which can operate with or without a PIN code and readers with customer overprint (for example your own company logo). The following card types can be recognised by the EAL readers.

  • Mifare (Philips, 13.56 MegaHertz)
  • Hitag 1 & 2 (Philips, 100-150 kHz RFID)
  • HID (125 kHz RFID)
  • Nedap XS
  • Indala
  • TI (Texas Instruments)

Mifare Technology [Philips] ...

To gain a clear understanding of the Mifare technology here follows a short description:

The Mifare card is a new type of proximity card which can be provided with the latest security possibilities. In the nineties Philips started with the development of a new reader technology based on a new frequency (13.56 MegaHertz). Until then proximity cards (Nedap, TI, HID etc.) were only manufactured in the 120-125 KiloHertz range.

Mifare Card

With Mifare the following options are possible:

  • Read out of the unique Philips Mifare serial number
This solution is offered by 80% of the access control resellers and does NOT take advantage of the Mifare security possibilities.
  • Security by means of read/write verification

EAL is one of the few manufacturies on the market, with the password verification technology (MAD = Mifare Application Directory) as a standard.

Before the programmed EAL bagde number (programmed by EAL in one of the 16 MAD sectors) can be verified, read/write technology is used to enter the MAD via a secure EAL password.
Before the programmed EAL bagde number (programmed by EAL in one of the 16 MAD sectors) can be verified, read/write technology is used to enter the MAD via a secure EAL password.
  • Several facilities on the same badge
Because the Mifare badge facilitates the MAD technology, 16 different sectors on the badge can be used by different suppliers and systems like: access control, time attendance, catering, vending machines, copiers, parking management, etc.
