“Retirement of the old and welcoming the new era at the broadcast company”
Approximately eight years ago EAL provided the NET3 NOB (Dutch Broadcast Company) complex with an ATS entrance control system and although it was still working like day one, ongoing technology and chancing demands within the end-user organisation however, forged to update the installation.
The EAL solution was to upgrade the system and replace all Hard & Software and enabling, amongst others, the use of extra Mifare badges.
Together with the end-user organisation it was decided that the changeover could best be done over a weekend. This insured the organisation would hardly be disturbed in the daily operations. Therefore, the weekend of October 25-26, a team of EAL specialists in implementation and R&D programmers where one site, to implement the new system. Although a lot of work had to be done, the whole team had so much fun that it felt more like the average EAL Company outing.
No need to explain that we were proud that yet another security project went smooth and was successful. We like to thanks the team of NET3 NOB (Dutch Broadcast Company) for hosting a perfect weekend and providing a new security system for the VPRO/ VARA/ NPS/ RVU employees.

“EAL reseller of Astra2Connect ”
Here we would like to inform you that EAL Apeldoorn BV in cooperation with Police North and Eastern Gelderland in the Netherlands succeeded with great success an operational test project regarding the use of our new MuMo product (Track and Trace system on the man) during the yearly event “Zwarte Cross” in Lichtenvoorde The Netherlands.
For the reason that it is unrealistic to expect a good working internet connection in country sides like this, EAL explored to make use of the technology Astra2Connect satellite dish in this specific situation. In fact this successful project was a combination of two new products working together.
Based on this success EAL Apeldoorn BV decided that it is appropriated to offer this fully universal solution in combination with our own product as an enhancement of our product line. To be able to provide the market with an end to end solution, EAL decided to become an official reseller of the Astra2Connect technology. Using the satellite dish VoIP telephony can be supported as well, depending on the type of subscription. Installation and adjusting of the satellite dish remains a simple job, using the installation guide and necessary tools that are provided as part of the delivery.
EAL Apeldoorn BV can take care of the subscription request is required.

“To all EAL customers, using EAL Mifare passes”
Nearly daily there is more news in all media regarding failing Mifare technology in the world of security. Although there are no real effects at this moment in time, for the reason that copying passes is only done in research environments like universities, even the parliament is taking action to prevent situations where the security of systems and building are endangered.
Everybody is taking the old saying in account, “where there is smoke, there is a fire going on”.
EAL likes to state however to all her customers that use of our products and passes seem to be the exception on the rule.
EAL is always been very careful with the integrity of her systems and therefore never offered a project where the type of passes (standard pass) where offered and installed. EAL only used the far better Mifare technology that is using encrypted passes. As a part of this technology there is an additional equation between the encryption and the card number.
This in contradiction of estimated 85% of the market that is using the standard passes and this technology can cause a breach of security over the years.
Conclusion;
If you are an EAL customer using passes based on Mifare technology, all the panic in the media should bring a smile to your face and a good feeling you made the choice to work with EAL as your partner in the security of the organization.

“Willemswerf Rotterdam to continuous an amazing relationship"
For as far back as I can remember there is an entrance security system of EAL in place at the “Willemswerf Rotterdam”. I was 4 years old when I joint my dad sometimes in the weekends to visit this EAL customer, and now in 2008 at the age of 26 I am still visiting the Willemswerf being a customer of EAL.
Normally our website and especially our news page is not the place to trust a personal note to, but the amazing relationship between the Willemswerf and EAL is so special, it breaks the rule.

Being one of the first users of an EAL entrance system, the Willemswerf and EAL stood side by side on the cradle of this (at that moment) new technology. Numerous weekends where spent by Dirk-Jan Gerrits and my father Anton Vos with Mr Schrier (Manager Real Estate) on the job to finish “the last details” in order to get the system operational before the agreed deadline.
In the end of the day this joint initiative was the beginning of a special and still existing relationship between Willemswerf and EAL. So I can remember the upgrade from the old DOS based system to a totally new Windows environment, after that a new parking module was created, etc.
Needless to state that EAL is very proud to announce that now, in 2008, the owner of Willemswerf, knowing as “Fortis Real-estate”, decided to renew the still existing and operational system to a new EAL ATS system, based on the passes and card readers designed and produced by EAL. Due to this choice Willemswerf insured herself again of a state of the art technology that enables to continue this special relationship for many years to come.

“International law firm Nauta Dutilh continues relationship with EAL”
Starting 1995, Nauta Dutilh is using an EAL access control and time attendance system. Together with our partner Ellips systems the initial system was expanded for several years. The system is expanded over time, and additional locations where added, like the new WTC location in Amsterdam.
In 2007 Nauta Dutilh decided to expand the services in foreign countries, and therefore had to make a choice for expansion and renewing the EAL system or the replacement of EAL with another system.

“Fire brigade Venlo selects EAL MOMO”
EAL starts the New Year with an order for approximately 100 EAL MOMO GPS systems for the Fire Brigade vehicles in the Dutch region Venlo.

The EAL MOMO will be used as a communication platform between the dispatching centre and the vehicles using the GPRS network. Initially the vehicle GPS positions are sent to the dispatching centre and incident coordinates can be sent from the dispatching centre to the vehicles.
Future expansions like MDT (Mobile Data Terminal) functions will be obtained using the MOMO standard combined with an Automotive PC.

“Schiphol selects the EAL WinBas System”
We do not have the information regarding the number of the competitors we should beat with our offer for the TENS (Telecommunication Emergency Notification System) project. What we do know is that not only the share number of specifications in the RFI where massive, it was extremely detailed on the required functionality and warrantees. Any vendor replying to the RFI should not only have technological skills, but an organisation to back it up over the years. The existing system was not only outdated, it could no longer be supported, whilst new developments where impossible for quite some time already. This could present the Schiphol organisation not only with problems in the organisation itself, but no developments in a fast changing technological environment like Schiphol, is holding them back, whilst nothing else within the organisation or used technology, is.
The invitation of EAL was based on the long relationship between the organisations and the fact that almost the complete EAL product portfolio is already for years operational within Schiphol.

Even before all signatures where on the order, project manager Martijn Wissema introduced the second user for the system. It is exactly this that is one of the strong points of the EAL WinBas system, the flexibility and multifunctionality combined in a future proof system.

“Schiphol renews the voice recorder, again EAL the vendor”
Over the last 10 years The Schiphol organization used a large EAL voice recorder. It all started with the predecessor of the EVA system, the PSIC installation. Over the last few years it was expanded with the new EAL EVA system. This was only possible due to the fact that EAL develops the hard en software herself and takes care of the production as well. EAL is therefore second to none is ensuring the backwards compatibility of the system, to the end-user. Despite the fact that the system was still fully operational without one single complaint from the organization, the system was economical at end of life a long time ago. Keeping this in mind and combining it with the fact that the organization would like to expand the system with voice recording of different departments. Also according to the new European rules and regulations, some components in the PSIC system, should not be used anymore, so the Schiphol organization decided to renew the complete installation.
Due to the fact that the new EAL EVA system is fully IP-address based, the Schiphol organization can spread out the installation over the complete complex of building. Although the installation will be replaced in the first two months of 2008, already new expansions are being discussed.
The fact that EAL is chosen to be the vendor again, tells us that next to our development and sales departments, compliments go out to our service department as well. If they would not have ensured a more than 100% service over the past 10 years, EAL would not be chosen to start the partnership again for the years to come.

“European Commission selects EAL, being the new supplier”
Petten, The Netherlands is already for years home for the “European Commission Directorate General joint research centre, institute for energy”. The European Commission invited a number of companies to make an offer for a new digital Voice Recorder System. Although the price was part of the challenge, it was not the biggest challenge by far. It was the number of different technology that the single Voice Recorder should be able to interface to.

Even for the very flexible EAL EVA Voice Recorder it was a challenge, but the combination with the capabilities and knowledge of the EAL organization they where chosen offering the best product. EAL did not receive the order on the price only. It was the combination with the insurance that we are able to deliver an excellent product, and support it for many years to come. An advantage EAL could offer due to the reason we do not only develop our own hard and software, but also have full control over the production. Although this future support was not demanded, it was perceived to be an important extra.

“Zenitel Belgium and EAL chosen to offer the best solution for new communication system, for the Fire department in the city of Luik in Belgium”
In a partnership with Zenitel Belgium, EAL received the order to provide the new communication and atomization system for the Fire department in the city of Luik in Belgium.
For EAL, the order consist out of a combination of nearly all products from the product portfolio and therefore making the project even more special. Not only EAL ATS Building Management, EAL EVA Voice recording and EAL MOMO Track & Tracing but also EAL WINBAS communication systems are be combined in one single order.
Zenitel Belgium will, being the system integrator, combine all mentioned EAL products, in a single suite solution called Fire Squad
In stating and ordering Fire Squad to be the best total solution, The Fire Department will not only be the proud owner, but offering a firm base for this technology within the Belgium market.

“EAL will be closed due to Flexi time days”
EAL will be closed on Monday October 22 and Friday October 26. All customers covered with a Service Agreement will be able to reach EAL using the know service numbers. The service agreement will prevail at all times.

“EGDL / EAL demo day in Luxembourg above expectations”
Together with our partner EGDL, EAL organized in Luxembourg at September 7th a get together for a combination of our end users, partners and advising consultancies.
The main point of interest went out to demonstrate the newly developed features on the EAL ATS SMS access control system and our Security Management application, and last but not least, end-users where enabled to change out experiences with our systems in full operation.
Using an event like this to combine a fruitful day with some other pleasures in life, was realized by inviting DREAMCAR.COM and ask them to make their name being a top event organiser, come true.
The succeeded in this by having no less than 5 dreamcars, like Lamborghini, Porsche en Ferrari available, to have a tour throughout the beautiful scenery of Luxembourg. All participants had the opportunity to spend some time behind the wheel and find a prefect balance between work and pleasure.
This way we achieved to realize a more than perfect day, exchange a lot of information and having pleasure, making this day memorable for all.
The success leaves us with the idea to organise a day like this in The Netherlands as well.

“Nashuatec and EAL together in Police Access Control Project”
The EAL ATS access control concept for Police Districts gets extra functionalities concerning reader functions for printers, copiers and multifunctionals from the company Nashuatec. Users of the EAL Police badge (which currently is used for access to buildings) will be able to use this badge for printing facilities within police organizations.

“Automatic Dispatching Systems in Belgium with EAL WINBAS – Firesquad systems”
Several medium and large fire brigades in Belgium selected the EAL WINBAS – Firesquad system as a total automatic dispatching solution. In cooperation with Zenitel Belgium a large number of systems where implemented in a short period of time.

Next to the communication with the analog radio’s (for which the system was originally developed in the Dutch market) other communication standards like the ASTRID Tetra digital communication standard where implemented for the Belgian market. Other features developed are:
- Simultaneous communication with analog and digital Tetra systems
- Integration of ARBI (telephone) functionality
- Integration of GIS / Mapping systems
- Volunteer module (absence / presence)
- Planning employees
- Communication with LCD / TFT / LED displays
- Controlling of several smaller WINBAS-Firebird systems via EAL Site Servers
- Simultaneous communication via Astrid (Tetra), Pagers, SDS/SMS, Telephone, etc
- Digital Voice Recording
- Building Management (security management, opening garage doors, etc)
- Mobile Data Communication (GPS track and tracing)

“EVA Voice Recording offers all of us more PK (Dutch for HP)”
Our organization PK (HP) automation is known to be a solid partner in the interesting world of office automation and as of 1994 we established ourselves in the market, delivering total concepts for integrated information and communication solutions to our customers. Still it was time to bring the services that we deliver to our growing number of customer, to the next level.
In combination with the fact that we received a growing number of requests to expand our service in the aria of the complex ICT infrastructures like point to point connections, internet access and the VPN’s, with Digital Voice Recording.
Against all our expectations it wasn’t as simple as we expected. Although there is enough technology available in the market it was difficult to find a system that could meet our high standards in technology that was able to support the right functionality and was broad enough orientated to support several integration on one and the same system. This for the reason that for our customers the choice for analogue – Digital and VoIP and any combination had to be available, without the need for more than one single system.
No less important for our PK organization was to select a vendor that was reliable with an easy and direct access to the development department, without having to use a complex network of resellers. Our experience proved this to an obstacle in the speed if new or specialized developments are needed.
Choosing for the EVA concept of EAL Apeldoorn, insured PK not only the usage of the latest and reliable technology, but ensured PK even more to work with an organisation that positions herself to be more of a partner in the market, than just a vendor of equipment. Next to this the EVA technology enabled our organization to control and access all installation at the several location of the end user, from one single location, being our service centre.
PK could not wished for a more perfect solution and our position became even stronger due to the fact EAL is not working with a complicated license structure, making the installation even more cost effective. No hidden cost that are difficult to manage and therefore PK could guarantee her customers a very low “Total cost of Ownership”.
The first four installations where installed according the planning and worked perfect as of day one not in the least due to the support of the very friendly user interface. “EAL moved to new location as of March 1”
with the location of our office at the Molenmakershoek 17 Apeldoorn, the growing problem with the available space was the main reason that the office, was not really comfortable anymore.
The share fact that a number of larger projects within the Security Management, Mobile Data en Voice Recorder marked, forced towards a growing staffing and even more the production facility. There was really no other choice than looking for a new location.
This was solved quickly however, at the moment a more than suitable office space came available at the Molenmakershoek 14. Although the decision was taken only after thorough thoughts, it didn't take much time and we can proudly inform you that as of March 1, we moved into our new premises.

This year the Safety & Security Exhibition will be organized at RAI congress centre in Amsterdam. The exhibition days will be may 8 until may 10 and we hope to meet everybody that is interested in this part of our product portfolio, at our stand.

“Regional Police Gelderland Midden
in favor of EAL Police Access Control concept”
No less than Proud is EAL after the decision of the "Regional Police Gelderland Midden" to be the sixth police region in a row, choosing for the nationwide EAL Police Access Control concept. As a result of this order, EAL becomes the market leader with their Access Control System, in the challenging environment of the Dutch police organization.
The EAL ATS system will be implemented in combination with the new developed central hardware, enabling the usage of the new hybrid access control passes. This hybrid solution will be instrumental is securing smooth implementation of the new installation, if for no other reason that the technology is suitable to use the existing and the new card readers, at the same moment in time.
After the implementation is completed, police staff members that are in possession of the new passes can successfully use this pas interregional if required. There is no reason anymore to carry more than one single pas, so again one of the problems within a large organization like the nationwide police, belongs to history.

“Academic Medical Centre and University Maastricht select EAL ATS SMS system”
Together with Croon Maintenance Rotterdam EAL has been selected in a European tender for the implementation of a complete security management system.
The project is based on a unique cooperation between the University and the Academic Medical Centre Maastricht in which the implementation of the EAL Security management system will be done simultaneously.
The system which will be implemented consists out of the following components:
- Access Control
- Card management
- Badge Printing
- Parking Management
- Security Management
- Vending
All components will use the same Smartcard technology.

“ROTEB Rotterdam selecteert EAL - Koning & Hartman MOMO oplossing”
All the vehicles of the community Rotterdam will be equipped with a EAL and Koning & Hartman MOMO AVLS (Automatic Vehicle Location System) solution, this after winning a European Tender.
The MOMO will be used for several functions, starting with simple track & tracing up to complete vehicle management.
Initially a total of 550 MOMO's will be installed in the ROTEB vehicles, this number will expand up to 1250 MOMO's in the future.
For the central management of the vehicles the EAL I-traffic application will be used, this application provides functionalities for vehicle registration, management and communication.

“C-2000 fallback for Security-region Friesland”
Security-region Friesland (Police - Fire Department – Ambulance, first aid team) being the first organization in The Netherlands to implement the C-2000 fallback solution.
The C-2000 fall- back solution enables to maintain the two ways radio communicate between vehicles / staff in the field and the Central Security Room, when the C-2000 network fails, regardless whether this is totally or just partial.
In cooperation with Koning en Hartman, EAL developed an alternative system that can be operational within seconds after the C-2000 system fails to be operational. The fallback system will realize an alternative connectivity between the C-2000 sites, enabling undisturbed communication again to and from the radio in the vehicles and the hand held’s again.
A nice part of the solution is that we can we can reuse a most of the existing EAL application that is used to operate the analogue radio communication system, that was temporally installed at most security region, awaiting the C-2000 system to become operational. Using this existing EAL equipment, new investments where minimized.
