Public Safety project SHERPA ...
The EAL participation in the Public Safety Sherpa project started in 2004. In cooperation with several departments within the Dutch Police organization and other Sherpa partners like Intergraph (GIS system for the security room) and Falk- Andes (mapping material), the implementation of the project within the Public Safety region is realized.
The project consists out of a combination of the I-traffic application in the centralized security rooms and the installation of the EAL MoMo AVLS (Automatic Vehicle Location System) in all vehicles.
In order to ensure our customers of a phased implementation towards the Intergraph GIS system, EAL will support the use of existing GIS systems, like Tensing and Citygis, until the complete implementation is a fact.
Due to the fact the Sherpa is a project from the government, it was needed that EAL would support several carriers to handle the data traffic between the security rooms and the vehicles, using the EAL MoMo and the I-traffic application.
The following carriers are supported buy EAL:
- RAM Mobitex
- GPRS (Vodafone of KPN)
- C-2000 Data (GPS only)
